The history of Paradise Oysters traces back to Ron Osmond, who started oyster farming about 30 years ago. Around 15 years ago, Ron established his farm in Southern Baynes Sound, British Columbia, Canada. He is deeply passionate about oyster farming and has dedicated himself to developing the farm. Ron, along with his wife Cindy and son, manages the farm hands-on, ensuring the production of high-quality oysters from seed to market. Their commitment to excellence and love for oysters has led to the creation of Paradise Oysters, known for their sweet flavor and deep cup shells. The farm’s location in Deep Bay has allowed the oysters and the farm to flourish, producing over 150,000 dozen oysters annually.

The cultivation process begins in spring with seed purchase and peaks in growth rate from June to September. Culture Method: Paradise Oysters undergo a meticulous cultivation process that begins in a Floating Upwelling System (FLUPSY) where oyster seeds, initially the size of a popcorn kernel, are nurtured. They carefully select and screen tiny seeds to shape the oyster shells. Once they grow to a size of 3/8 of an inch, we remove the soft outer layer. Then, we tumble the oysters every six weeks using wire mesh screens to condition and size them, promoting shell strength and a deep cup.
