What Are Model T Oysters?
Model T Oysters are farmed Eastern oysters from Standish Shore Oyster Farm in Duxbury Bay, Massachusetts. The stock is Crassostrea virginica, the classic Atlantic species grown across New England. This tray-raised grade is one of four lines the farm sells to distributors and raw bars. Buyers know the name from Pangea Shellfish and wholesale manifests.
On the half shell the line reads briny and clean with salinity near 25–30 ppt. Shells show deep cups with thick rippled brown shells and green coloration. Tray raising and constant tumbling build the signature cup depth noted on tags. Meats run creamy with a strong brine that finishes buttery-sweet.

About Standish Shore Oyster Farm
Standish Shore Oyster Farm is a premium oyster farm located in Duxbury Bay, Massachusetts, producing four types of oysters. The farm was founded by Ben Lloyd, who had dreamed of owning an oyster farm since 1996 when he worked for Moonstone Oysters as a URI Marine Affairs student. Ben decided to name his farm Standish Shore Oyster Farm after the peninsula southwest of the farm site where the Standish Shore Monument stands looking over Duxbury Bay.
Despite facing challenges, 400,000 oysters were successfully seeded during the first growing season. Duxbury Bay is home to the Standish Shore Monument overlooking the lease. In 2012, Ben Lloyd and his team harvested the first crop of Standish Shore Oysters. Pangea Shellfish customers responded strongly to the quality and flavor of that debut harvest.
Model T Oysters undergo frequent tray tumbling rather than bottom planting on the flats. That process develops a well-balanced flavor and sweet-buttery texture Pangea Shellfish highlights in its farm materials. Duxbury Bay experiences massive nine- to twelve-foot tides twice daily. Those exchanges flood the bay with nutrient-rich Atlantic water and then drain away. Salinity in the farm zone typically runs 25–30 ppt across the season. Tray culture and tumbling add cup depth on top of that estuarine base.
