Merry Oysters’ fleet contains three boats; the “little boat” and the “new boat” are 22 ft. Bateaus. The “big boat” is a 25 ft. Bateau.
The oysters are grown in upwellers, bags, and cages, then bottom-planted when it’s time—320 cells the farm uses to hold the different-sized mesh bags. The cells are 3-inch flat wire mesh built by Ketcham Traps in New Bedford, MA, and are used to carry the bags of oysters in the water column.
